Memory Full

A photograph is the reduction of the endless and unmanageable world to a little rectangle. A photograph is our measure of the world. A photograph is also a memory. Remembering means reducing the world to little rectangles. - Dubravka Ugresic

When not drinking and lying on the grass, we liked to drink and sit in my room.

This is a picture of Charlie from Busted!! No really, behind Phin. That dark mass is his eyebrows.

One day my view (through the ballustrades) featured this odd sight... even with a degree in social anthropology I can't begin to figure out the ritual purposes...

All of May Week looked like this. It was so beautiful it used up all the sun we were due for July. And I'd do it all again, too.

When drunk, part of the Clare graduating class become 1930s gangsters and molls.

This picture is intended to convey that Dave is a deep thinker who perhaps lacks focus. :)

Look! We all graduated. The figures in this picture know everything there is to know about (r-l) monkeys, mud and waffle.

This is mainly a picture of two young swans, but is also notable for the fact that the punt in the background is called "zapatismo."

kate is modest, and has a sequin stuck to her forehead.

This is from Katrina's 21st birthday, in Small Hall at Clare College.

Michael at Michaelhouse

Michael and I went for coffee at the Michaelhouse cafe. He insisted, because it is his house.

Michaelhouse is a cafe and community centre inside the shell of a C14th church, and there is a sort of ante-chapel which still has services inside it. I heard that it is the former chapel of Michaelhouse College, an extinct entity apparently absorbed into Trinity.

Ralford is in black and white to express his sophistication.

This is from an ill-advised 'revision break' dinner in which Cat made white sauce with complete aplomb and with no lumps. I don't know how to make white sauce. I wasn't brought up right.

Cat could probably beat any of you in a fight. She has MALT LOAF POWER.

With devastating failure to invert gender stereotypes, Cat and I did the cooking and Ralford and Phin sat on the table. Although to compensate, Ralford apologised a lot for perpetuating the patriarchy, and Phin tried to help by boiling the kettle for the pasta. It would have been even more impressive if he'd switched it on.
